Awarded by President of Poland the National Medal of Polish Education for services to the Oxford Colleges Hospitality Scheme for Polish Scholars in 1992.

I retired officially in 2010 but continue to engage in research and some teaching for Oxford Colleges and the Department of Physics. I am Emeritus Fellow of Jesus College Oxford.

In 1972 I derived a system (Acta Cryst. (1972). B28, 3384-3392)  to describe the tilting of octahedra in perovskites, and this work is now recognised internationally. 3D printed models can be downloaded here 3dPrinting (amg122.com).

In 1986 I set up with J. Cosier a partnership, Oxford Cryosystems, to market low-temperature apparatus for crystallographers. This product is the market lead and Oxford Cryosystems | Oxford Cryosystems (oxcryo.com) is the world's almost exclusive manufacturer of such equipment.

Our paper The missing boundary in the phase diagram of PbZr1-xTixO3 . Nature Comms., 5, 5231 (2014) has been awarded the Spriggs Prize by the American Ceramic Society.
