Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

I'm a Glasstone Fellow in Astrophysics and Supernumerary Fellow at Exeter College.

My research focuses on studying the atmospheres of exoplanets. I utilize observations from the James Webb Space Telescope and combine them with my theoretical models in order to characterise the nature of these planets. For a full list of my papers, please click here.

When I'm not thinking about the atmospheres of alien worlds, I am talking about them on TikTok! I love to breakdown the results of my own work, as well as current news in the astrophysics world, for example, the recent claims of biosignature gases in the atmosphere of K2-18b.

As an LGBT+ person in STEM, I believe that visiblity and representation is important. I am a trustee for the charity Pride in STEM, we were one of the driving forces behind LGBT+ in STEM day - this is November 18th every year. I'm the coordinator of the Out Thinkers events that we run, these are events where LGBT+ people in STEM can give a talk about their work in a safe environment surrounded by like-minded people. They provide a great oppotunity to network with other LGBT+ people in STEM and promote their work. Click here to learn more about Out Thinkers and our previous speakers.
